How long does a full soil monitoring setup take on a large plantation?

For a typical corporate estate, our team completes the physical installation in two to four days, depending on plot size and terrain. Sensor placement follows a grid based on your crop rows and soil variability map, so you get representative readings without covering every hectare.

Do I need my own agronomy staff to operate the system?

No. The dashboard is built for field managers who are not sensor specialists. You set alert thresholds once, and the system flags moisture, temperature, and nutrient shifts automatically. If you prefer, our agronomy team can review the data weekly and send you a short summary with recommended actions.

What happens if a sensor stops reporting in the field?

Each unit sends a heartbeat signal every 15 minutes. If we miss three consecutive signals, the system raises a maintenance ticket and our field support team contacts you within one working day. In most cases, the issue is a drained battery or a loose connector, both of which we resolve on site.

Can I export the soil data for my own analysis or reporting?

Yes. You can export raw readings as CSV files for any date range, or pull a formatted summary for monthly board reports. The export includes soil moisture, temperature, electrical conductivity, and pH at each sensor depth, so your internal team can run its own models if needed.

How often are sensors recalibrated in tropical conditions?

We recommend a calibration check every six months for sensors in high-humidity areas. The process takes about 20 minutes per unit and uses a reference solution we supply. If you are on the ongoing support package, recalibration is included in the schedule and handled by our technicians.

What training do field staff receive after installation?

We run a half-day session on site covering the dashboard, alert settings, and basic troubleshooting. Field staff also get a printed quick-reference card with the most common error codes and the correct response for each. Remote refresher sessions are available on request.

Sensor coverageEach soil monitoring unit covers a defined radius around its installation point. Readings reflect conditions within that radius only, not the entire field. For fields larger than the covered area, we recommend spacing units according to the layout plan agreed during site assessment.

Calibration scheduleSensor accuracy depends on regular calibration, which we perform every six months for tropical climates. Calibration intervals may shorten if the site experiences flooding, heavy tillage, or extreme temperature swings. We notify the farm manager before each scheduled visit.

Data reportingSoil data is delivered through the dashboard in hourly intervals. Historical records are kept for 24 months. Reports older than that are archived and can be retrieved on request, though retrieval may take up to five working days.

Connectivity requirementsThe system transmits readings over a cellular network. Sites without reliable coverage may need a local gateway or a wired connection. We assess signal strength during the initial survey and confirm the best option before installation begins.

Maintenance accessField staff must keep the area around each sensor clear of dense vegetation and standing water. If a sensor is buried under soil or covered by debris, readings may be delayed until access is restored. We provide a simple marker flag for each unit.

Third-party equipmentOur monitoring system works with standard irrigation controllers and fertilizer spreaders that use common communication protocols. Compatibility is verified during the planning phase. Custom integrations are handled as separate projects with their own timeline.
